This initiative promises to bring much-needed improvements to the lives of the people of New Sawereso in the Asunafo South District.

The development project, spearheaded by Nana Agyemang Katakyie III, includes the construction of a new maternity block for the local health facility. Beyond this, the initiative has already yielded substantial benefits, including:
- Healthcare Boost: Donation of 3 motorbikes and a refrigerator to the local health facility.
- Educational Support: Provision of a projector and desktop computers for the local school.
- Water Access: Development of a new waterpoint.
- Financial Assistance: Cash donation to Naketey D/A Basic School.

This effort aligns with the Asunafo South District’s collaborative approach with Traditional Councils to achieve universal health and education coverage, mirroring the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 3. The New Sawereso CHPS (Community-based Health Planning and Services) is set to undergo a significant transformation, enhancing healthcare delivery in the area.

The Chief’s initiative has garnered support from philanthropic groups based in the United States, who are committed to assisting vulnerable communities facing challenges in accessing quality healthcare and education. Impressed by Nana Agyemang Katakyie III’s proposal, the group has committed to supporting the construction of the maternity block.
District Assembly Engagement
Prior to commencing the project, the Chief of New Sawereso and representatives from the US-based philanthropic group paid a courtesy visit to the Asunafo South District Assembly to formally introduce themselves and the project.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing his gratitude for their swift response to the identified health and education needs of Seinua. He assured them of the Assembly’s full support and cooperation, expressing hope that similar initiatives would extend to other communities within the New Sawereso Divisional area.
